About Us
Our Mission
Show up, do the job right and with care, and treat our client’s homes like our own.
That promise is what built Aladdin Heating & Cooling over 30 years ago, and it’s what drives us today. Whether we’re installing a high-capacity heat pump, answering a 10 p.m. call in the middle of winter, or helping a nonprofit bring warmth to vulnerable communities — we do it with heart, integrity, and pride.
Our Values
PEOPLE FIRST
We treat every customer like a neighbor and every home like our own. Respect, empathy, and clear communication are the foundation of everything we do.
INTEGRITY OVER EVERYTHING
We don’t cut corners. We don’t oversell. We show up when we say we will, stand behind our work, and offer honest guidance rooted in decades of experience.
QUALITY WORKMANSHIP
Our work is a reflection of who we are. We invest in top-tier tools, stay up to date with the latest systems, and ensure every install or repair meets the highest standards.
COMMUNITY CARE
We believe in giving back. Through partnerships with organizations like PCEF, NAYA PDX, and the Oregon Energy Trust, we help extend comfort to those who need it most.
SUSTAINABILITY-MINDED
Comfort shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. We specialize in energy-efficient systems that reduce environmental impact while lowering utility bills for our customers.
FAMILY-OWNED, NEIGHBOR-LOVED
This business is more than a livelihood— it’s our legacy. We’re proud to be a family-owned company, passed down and grown with care, one relationship at a time.
About Our Team
Ernie Khal
Founder & Owner
-
Ernie is the heart and soul of this company, having founded it over 30 years ago. He began this business shortly after the birth of his first child, and grew his family as Aladdin Heating grew. He is a loving father and devoted husband who enjoys spending his time with his wife, kids, and large extended family of many nephews, nieces and cousins. You can find him relaxing in his backyard, enjoying good music in the company of his family when he isn’t working.
Nicole Khal
Business Development & Marketing
-
Nicole has recently joined the team to bring her business dev experience in the tech world from Berlin, Germany back home, in her father’s company here in Portland. Her primary focus is building SOPs around sales organization and structuring data-driven strategy for growth and development, as well as marketing. She’s excited to launch into a new stage of applying her skills into the family company and contribute to serving the community that raised her.
Tim Khal
General Manager
-
Tim wears many hats - from managing our day-to-day operations, our partnerships across the Metro area, job bids, supply chain & inventory, and nearly everything in between… Tim is there. His academic and professional background is in computer engineering, but he has spent the last couple of years by his father’s side, learning the ins and outs of the business, soaking up Ernie’s +30 years of experience. Outside of Aladdin he keeps himself busy building his own tech company, working as an engineer for another startup, spending time with his loved ones, going shooting at the range, and because he isn’t busy enough, he also coaches MMA in his evenings.
Jeremey Humphries
HVAC Tech
-
I’ve been in the HVAC industry for 26 years. I grew up in the Parkrose area and have been part of the Portland community since 1980. I got into HVAC just a year out of high school when a family member introduced me to it, and it just fit for me. I’m 45 years old and a proud father of a son and daughter in their early 20s. Outside of work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy hunting, fishing, camping, dirt biking—pretty much anything outdoors.
Austin
HVAC Tech
-
I have a long track record in construction, maintenance, and home building for over 30 years, and in more recent years I’ve transitioned into HVAC (and I’m glad I did!). I’m a father of nine and a loving grandfather to six grandchildren. In my spare time, I enjoy building muscle cars, dirt biking, camping, and working on hot rods. My family is originally from the St. John’s Portland area, where my grandfather was a retired North Precinct Officer.
Micah Baker
HVAC Tech
-
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, where I grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the warmth of a loving family. Family has always been at the heart of my life, and I am proud to be a parent to one child and a step-parent to two wonderful kids. I’ve always had a deep appreciation for animals, music, video games, and spending time outdoors - whether it’s exploring nature or just enjoying fresh air with my family. These passions keep me grounded and balanced in life. For the past eight years, I’ve built my career in the HVAC industry. I take great pride in being a hard worker, committed to providing for my family and ensuring their stability and happiness. My dedication to both my work and loved ones reflects who I am at my core: someone who values responsibility, perseverance, and the people who mean the most to me.
Community Partnerships
HVAC WITH HEART: SERVING PEOPLE, NOT JUST PROPERTIES
We believe that everyone deserves a safe, warm, and healthy home regardless of income, background, or housing type. That belief isn’t just part of our mission. It’s why we partner with local nonprofits, tribal organizations, and government agencies to provide affordable, equitable HVAC solutions across the Portland Metro area.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS
Too many families in our region face unsafe, inefficient, or broken heating and cooling systems, especially in older homes. Extreme heat, freezing temps, and rising energy costs aren’t just inconvenient—they can be life-threatening.
OUR PARTNERSHIPS HELP:
Reduce energy burdens for low-income households
Extend HVAC access to BIPOC and underserved communities
Improve air quality, health outcomes, and home safety
Advance Oregon’s clean energy and climate goals
Our Community & Government Partners
We perform ongoing HVAC upgrades and weatherization work for income-qualified households throughout Multnomah County, ensuring homes are energy-efficient and safe year-round.
Supporting Clackamas County by bringing the same trusted care to more households across the region.
Partnering with NAYA to deliver HVAC services that support Indigenous families across Portland, in alignment with cultural care and environmental justice values.
An exciting partnership in the works—Verde leads environmental justice initiatives in Portland, and we’re eager to support their mission with HVAC solutions that reflect community needs.
We support Washington County’s housing efforts through efficient heating and cooling system installs, helping residents lower their utility bills and stay comfortable in all seasons.
We were honored to complete HVAC work for this critical health center, improving indoor climate for patients and care teams alike.
We’re proud to support Indigenous entrepreneurs and families through our ongoing partnership with NWNC, helping create warmer, safer homes through culturally aligned HVAC services.
While we don’t install directly for ETO, we help our customers access generous Energy Trust rebates—often covering up to $2,000 of heat pump installation costs.
Want to Partner with us?
We’re always looking to expand our impact. If your organization provides housing, energy assistance, or environmental justice services and needs a trusted HVAC contractor, we’d love to talk.
